Quotes from Thomas Jefferson
It’s pretty hard to be a graduate of the University of Virginia and not be a die hard T.J. fan. So, even though I openly disagree with some of his religious views, I too have been a longtime admirer of his genius, innovation, his architecture, and his political points. Here are some quotes passed along to me in an email today. They are surprisingly applicable to our current affairs.
Quotes from Thomas Jefferson
When we get piled
upon one another in large cities, as in Europe,
we shall become as corrupt as Europe .
Thomas Jefferson
The democracy will cease to exist
when you take away from those
who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson
It is incumbent on every
generation to pay its own debts as it goes.
A principle which if acted on would save
one-half the wars of the world.
Thomas Jefferson
I predict future happiness for
Americans if they can prevent the government
from wasting the labors of the people under the
pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson
My reading of history convinces me
that most bad government results from too much
government.
Thomas Jefferson
No free man shall ever be debarred
the use of arms.
Thomas Jefferson
The strongest reason for the
people to retain the right to keep and bear arms
is, as a last resort, to protect themselves
against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson
The tree of liberty must be
refreshed from time to time with the blood of
patriots and tyrants.
Thomas Jefferson
To compel a man to subsidize with
his taxes the propagation of ideas which he
disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
‘I believe that
banking institutions are more dangerous to
our liberties than standing armies.
If the American people ever allow
private banks to control the issue of their
currency, first by inflation, then by
deflation, the banks and corporations that will
grow up around the banks will deprive the people
of all property - until their children
wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers
conquered.’ |

Dooty Call
Okay. I’m not even kidding you– this completely true. Today, I was driving by a huge work out facility in my town (notice how I didn’t stop, but drove by) and I spotted this hideous green truck in the parking lot. On the side of it was written DOOTY CALL. If I could have, I would have stopped to take a picture with my phone (a terrible habit I’ve gotten into, btw, which I’ll have to talk about another time). Apparently, it’s a company that comes to your house and cleans your doggy’s business out of your yard so that you don’t have to. Now, I don’t know whether to think these guys are geniuses or if I should cry for them. Who is that busy? And if you are that busy, why do you have a pet? In my opinion, if you have a pet, you should take care of it yourself. If you don’t have time then you shouldn’t have a pet. When did pets turn into luxury items? Having a dog is not like having a swimming pool, you know. It should be part of the family. Right? I don’t know, but I just feel like if you don’t have time to clean up after your own pet then you need to do some serious prioritizing. So, I wonder how DOOTY CALL is DOOing with all the snow we’ve had???
This is my dog Bear. I’ve trained him to go in my neighbor’s yard
Good Boy!!!

A few lines from a Beth Moore Study: Believing God
Just feel like sharing some great lines I read in a Beth Moore study.
“Tenacity is more than hanging on, which may be but the weakness of being too afraid to fall off. Tenacity is the supreme effort of a man refusing to believe that his hero is going to be conquered…remain spiritually tenacious.” Oswald Chambers
“We must persevere in our commitment to Christ, not in our commitment to commitment.” Beth Moore
“Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God.” William Carey
If you’ve never seen Beth Moore speak, I encourage you to do so. I find her very REAL and a teacher who can really get to the heart of the hang-ups we have as believers. She has several video driven Bible studies that are very good. Really get you thinking about how the Word applies to our times. My Bible study group is following BELIEVING GOD and we’ve also completed the DANIEL study. Love it!!
